Friday, June 25, 2021

COVID Restrictions:

CTAA has received advice from Susie Harwood, Executive Director Freight, Transport for NSW, on the growing risk to the community of the current COVID cases in Greater Sydney including the Central Coast, Shellharbour and the City of Wollongong Local Government Areas.

The advice includes information on travel restriction exemptions for persons transporting freight, as well as the rules on wearing masks, including inside road and rail freight vehicles if the driver is travelling with others outside of their immediate household members.

As mentioned in the advice, the situation is evolving rapidly, and there are links to information regarding border crossing requirements now in place in other States and Territories, and COVID testing station locations.

Biosecurity Impacts:

The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (DAWE) has released advice on the impact of the COVID Restrictions' on biosecurity operations in NSW.

The advice is clear that the delivery of Australian Government services has been classified as essential services. As such, all biosecurity operations will continue to be delivered. Where some operations are provided by third parties (e.g., treatments), they are by extension, considered essential services.

Currently, the department says it is able to service scheduled appointments with minimal impact.

DAWE further advises that if you have been impacted by the current restriction in NSW and are unable to maintain your scheduled inspection appointment with the department including any notification of COVID -19 positive cases, as a priority please contact DAWE on 1800 900 090 or email the relevant import booking email queue to advise of cancellation of the appointment.
