Digitisation of the movement of uncleared airfreight goods

Customs and the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) are inviting representatives from the air freight industry to discuss digitising the movement of uncleared goods.

In 2021, Customs and MPI are aiming to improve the security and simplicity of the process by moving it online to an electronic process for both agencies.

Email DTRPilot@tsw.govt.nz to register your interest in joining one of the industry meetings scheduled to take place in Auckland on 22 June, Christchurch on 30 June, Wellington on 1 July, or online via MS Teams on 24 June.

Reminder: Hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) permits

Permits to import new bulk HFCs must be issued by the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) in advance of the year of import - so if you want to import in 2022 you must have been issued your permit in 2021.

Applications for special permits to import new bulk HFCs in 2022 close on 1 July 2021, and on 1 September 2021 for "grandparented" permits. No late applications can be accepted.

Any queries from importers or their agents can be sent to ozone@epa.govt.nz.
