Public Health Alert - Victoria

Dear Freight Industry

The Victorian Government has announced a 7 day extension to stay-at-home measures.  The lockdown will be extended from 11.59pm tomorrow night, Thursday 3 June until 11:59pm on Thursday 10 June. Further information on the Victorian Government's health order can be found here

The NSW Concerns Notice will continue to require anyone entering NSW from VIC to self-isolate. This means anyone arriving in NSW who has been in Victoria since 4pm Thursday 27 May 2021 must remain at their home or place of residence in NSW for 14 days since they were last in Victoria or until the NSW Concerns Notice is no longer in force.

The essential reasons for leaving self-isolation remain in place, these include shopping for food and supplies, exercise, work if it cannot be done from home (including the transport of freight) and medical care. People who have only transited through Melbourne Airport or travelled along the Sturt Highway and did not leave the vehicle are excluded from these restrictions.

An entry declaration form continues to be required for people entering NSW from Victoria. People must confirm they have not attended any of the growing number of venues of concern. Anyone who has attended a venue of concern must not travel to NSW; instead, they should follow the health advice on the Victorian Health website.

Three of the current extensive list of venues concern are particularly relevant to the road freight industry due to their high rates of use by heavy vehicle drivers.

NSW Health is strongly advising people in NSW against non-essential travel to Victoria at this time. People who do choose to travel will be required to self-isolate on their return to NSW.

More information can be found on the NSW Government website. For testing sites near you visit the NSW Health website.

NSW continues to provide the following freight friendly COVID testing sites which operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week:

·        Narrabarba rest area, Princes Highway map

·        Forbes Caltex Service Centre, Newell Highway map

·        Narrandera Roadhouse, Newell Highway map

·        Tarcutta truck change-over yard, Sydney Street, off Hume Highway map
