The team at Port of Brisbane's Operations Base has boosted our waste reduction efforts
by saving over 16 tonnes of scrap metal from being sent to landfill this financial year and
raising almost $3,000 for charity in the process.

PBPL has committed to sending net zero PBPL-generated waste to landfill by 2030, as
part of our company-wide Target Zero strategy.

All the funds raised by scrap metal recycling go directly to the Port of Brisbane's 2020/21
Employee Charity, Friends with Dignity.

Our team works with United Scrap Metal Traders - a local company devoted to recycling
metal products.

Using two different bins supplied by USMT, our Operations Base team sorts scrap metal
into ferrous (such as stainless steel, cast iron and alloy steel) and non-ferrous metals
(such as aluminium, copper, lead).

It's a fantastic effort from our team at the Operations Base, who are playing a big role in
helping PBPL achieve it's 2030 waste reduction target.
