Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services (MAQIS) officers at the border have increased their scrutiny of food imports.

This has led to a number of consignments of meat, grain, honey and dairy being detained at Penang Port and Port Klang (North Port).

Stronger enforcement at the border is expected to continue.

What exporters should do

Exporters should make sure their documentation complies with agreed trade protocols between Australia and Malaysia to prevent delays.
