| Let me first say thank you to everyone who has reached out since the announcement of IFAM's extension on March 11. IFAM's success to date is truly an example of what can be achieved through collaboration between government (at all levels!) and industry, and I look forward to continuing our work together during this next phase.
As many of you have heard Michael Byrne and I say, airfreight options linking Australian businesses to global markets are slowly rebuilding. But the supply chains today are different to the supply chains pre-COVID-19 – and they're unlikely to be the same again.
One question I'm always being asked is how businesses can use this extra time to adapt their operating models to align to 'new-look' supply chains. My advice to you is this:
You must act now – do not wait to see what happens. Use this time well. Learn as much as you can, take advantage of the support available and don't be afraid to try new things.
I encourage everyone involved in airfreighting to cast your nets wide – really lean on each other, ask lots of questions and engage deeply with your industry networks. Attend as many briefings and webinars as you can because the more you know about how the new supply chains work, the better equipped you'll be to take advantage of them.
We know this is a daunting proposition, and we'll be coming along with you on the journey. Over the coming months, the IFAM team will continue to work with state and territory governments and industry bodies. We'll also connect you to helpful resources, like Austrade's new Digital Export Services (see story below).
Please keep reading the information we send, attend any briefings available to you and get in touch with us if you have more questions!

| New Export Services to help businesses go further, faster
Earlier this week, Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment Dan Tehan launched export.business.gov.au, giving more businesses access to Austrade's knowledge and expertise online anywhere, anytime.
The new service features 3,500 export market profiles and provides exporters with interactive market insights and trends, as well as information on grants, funding, local laws and regulations, distribution and shipping. As businesses know, exporting to different markets needs more than a 'one-size-fits-all' strategy. Exporters can now quickly find tools to help identify market-specific success factors to save time and resources.
Industry is applauding the new service, with AUSVEG National Manager for Export Development Michael Coote confirming that it has practical benefits for the agricultural sector. | |
