HAPAG LLOYD TO REMOVE PORT BOTANY CONGESTION SURCHARGE

Tuesday, March 9, 2021

Following last week's Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) and  Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) member notice, we are delighted to advise that Hapag Lloyd has followed both Maersk and Hamburg Sud by removing their Port Botany Congestion Surcharges.

The Hapg Lloyd measure is applicable to all import and export shipments to/from Sydney, with effect from booking tariffing date March 22, 2021.

FTA / APSA will maintain the momentum of our advocacy with a scheduled focused meeting this week with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

In the interim, we will continue direct engagement with other shipping lines to encourage them to follow in voluntarily reviewing existing practices and surcharge administration.
