Utilising the Entity Identification (AEI) field for used vehicles treated through the Recognised Offshore Cleaning Provider Scheme

Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) has received advice from the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (the department) of the release of IAN 14/2021 entitled Utilising the Entity Identification (AEI) field for used vehicles treated through the Recognised Offshore Cleaning Provider Scheme.

This change of practice has been brought about by the reduction in services being supplied by the Japan Export Vehicle Inspection Centre (JEVIC). (refer IAN 232/2020)

Members will need to note the change in practice for lodging entries either manually or through the AEPCOMM facility.

It should also be expected that the increase in on shore inspections will place added pressure on an already under demand area of the department, especially in Melbourne where we understand a large volume of used vehicles arrive and that port already being under pressure with increased containerised vessel calls.

We would urge members to ensure they monitor their needs for booking department officers and lodge timely and early requests for services.

The resultant increase in onshore cleaning and inspections of used cars is of major concern and will form part of our advocacy when FTA representatives meet with senior departmental executives in Canberra next week
