Service levels at the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment

Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) continue to receive advice from members raising persistent delays in services provided by the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (the department)

These issues include (but are not limited) to:)

  • Document processing time (especially for Imported Food shipments)
  • Inspection booking availability
  • issuance of post treatment releases

Whilst our meeting in late November with Deputy Secretary Andrew Tongue and senior department executives was helpful it was apparent that the situation required elevation to Secretary level.

To this end, the Secretary has asked Colin Hunter, First Assistant Secretary of Biosecurity Operations Division  to lead this work.

We have now received an invitation to a roundtable meeting to be held 22nd December with Mr Hunter and other senior department executives,

We appreciate the departments effort to make time to hold this important meeting so close to the holiday season and will keep members advised of the outcome of the meeting.
