| Since mid-October, an impressive Giken Silent Piler has been used for sheet-piling work as part of the transformation of A Shed on Victoria Quay. After driving 206 piles over 43 days of hard work and 'walking' 125 metres, the machine has finished its work at A Shed. It's one of only three of these machines in Australia and the only one of this particular type. It was selected for our A Shed foundation rehabilitation program as the unique combination of limited height and 100-year-old building meant that we were keen to limit the overall impact and excavation size usually associated with sheet piling. The Giken is extremely environmentally friendly, producing low emissions and noise levels, therefore making it the best option to use. A Shed will be redeveloped by Gage Roads Brewing Company as a harbourside hospitality venue, opening late in 2021. |
