Current Delays in Document Assessment Activities

Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) wish to advise of the following notification from the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment.

The Department acknowledges via IAN 177-2020 that some clients are currently experiencing delays in receiving their directions  after submitting documentation  for import assessment via the Cargo Online Lodgement System (COLS) or other departmental approved systems.

Representatives of FTA met  with senior executives of the Department earlier today (Friday 16 October 2020) to escalate and share members concerns on this issue.

As a result of this meeting The Department assured FTA that they are currently reallocating resources to address the current backlog.

The Department also advised that a review would be undertaken of how the escalation queue is managed.

There was also an acceptance that earlier lodgement of documents assists The Department with managing workloads and they will endeavour to provide more timely processing of earlier uploaded documents. .

FTA will continue to liaise with all levels of the Department and encourage continued feedback from members .
