The NSW Government announces corridors

for new transport links

Dear Freight industry

The NSW Government has announced that the corridor for the first stage of the Western Sydney Freight Line will be preserved as one of three new transport links to the Western Parkland City.

The Western Sydney Freight Line will provide part of a dedicated freight rail line from the Main West Rail Line at St Marys to the Southern Sydney Freight Line at Leightonfield, linking to Port Botany.

Stage one, announced yesterday, protects a dedicated freight rail line corridor between the future Outer Sydney Orbital at Luddenham through to the M7 at Horsley Park.

Design and planning for stage two, to provide a corridor from the M7 to the Southern Sydney Freight Line at Leightonfield, is underway.

Once complete, the Western Sydney Freight Line will provide a dedicated 24/7 rail link between the economic growth area of Sydney's west and overseas markets via Port Botany.

The North South Rail Line Corridor, supporting the delivery of Sydney Metro, and the South West Rail Link Extension Corridor from the Aerotropolis to Leppington were also announced.

Yesterday's announcement follows the rezoning of the Mamre Road Precinct last month which will be adjacent to the Western Sydney Freight Line. This protects a site for a future Western Sydney freight intermodal terminal (IMT).

Announcement of the Western Sydney Freight Line corridor preservation contributes to the objectives of the NSW Freight and Ports Plan 2018-2023. The preservation of these corridors will further support our actions as we work together across government and with industry to support the growing freight task and the safe, productive and sustainable movement of goods.
