WA

Strict border controls are in place to limit the spread of COVID-19 in WA.

You will no longer be able to enter Western Australia after 11.59pm, on Sunday, 5 April 2020 unless an exemption has been granted.

Exemptions include people who perform work in the following roles or industries and are required to enter WA for a period of time:

•            health services

•            transport, freight and logistics

•            national or state security and governance

•            courts and judicial services

•            emergency service workers

•            people who have specialist skills not available in WA.

There will also be exemptions for FIFO workers and their families and exemptions on compassionate grounds will be considered on a case by case basis.

Anyone seeking an exemption must complete an Exemption Application form, available here and on WA.gov.au, prior to travel and submit it to WA Police.  Exemptions must be granted by WA Police prior to travel.

You must carry your exemption form and proof of its submission when travelling. You may be asked to produce this documentation at a check point or by WA Police patrolling the area.

If your exemption category requires further documentation or proof, you must produce this on request. Failure to produce this documentation may result in penalties including imprisonment or a fine of up to $50,000 for individuals or $250,000 for organisations.

The State Government would like to make it clear that the freight and logistics industry will continue to operate, however an exemption form must be completed prior to crossing into Western Australia.
