FTA Nomination letter (002).pdf

Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) has today (17 February 2020) received formal correspondence from the Director Customs Licensing (Customs Group – Australian Border Force) advising that the current appointment of the deputy industry member, to the National Customs Brokers Licensing Advisory Committee (NCBLAC), expires on 1 July 2020.

The deputy industry members' role is to provide an industry perspective and knowledge that will assist NCBLAC in its deliberations over licensing issues that come before it; ranging from new licence applications, disciplinary matters and matters relating to approved courses of study. As such the expectation is that the deputy industry member will have an in-depth knowledge of the broad aspects of being both a nominee customs brokers licence holder and a corporate customs brokers licence holder.

As an organisation representing customs brokers, FTA has been invited to submit nominations to be considered for appointment to the above position. The Comptroller-General of Customs may appoint NCBLAC members for a period not exceeding two years, but appointees are eligible for re-appointment.

On receipt of these nominations, a delegate of the Comptroller- General of Customs will make a decision and an appointment will be made.

EXPRESSION OIF INTEREST

To allow time to process the appointment and to assist in the facilitation of future NCBLAC hearings, FTA has been requested to provide nominations along with a brief resume of the nominee by 6 March 2020.

To meet this timeframe, could you please submit your expression of interest to me at pzalai@FTAlliance.com.au by Friday 28 February 2020.
