Port of Melbourne - Coronavirus information for operators at first points of entry

Thursday, January 30, 2020

The Department of Agriculture is currently managing – together with the Department of Health, and the State and Territory health authorities – the border response following the recent outbreak of Coronavirus in China. They have been fielding a number of enquiries from port operators and the maritime industry, and would like to disseminate information to all relevant parties.

While the risk to Australia remains low, there have been cases of travellers in Australia who have recently been in Wuhan, China, and contracted the virus.

The Department of Health has provided 2 factsheets: Information for Border Workers and Factsheet for Travellers.   While these target border workers, and travellers arriving into Australia, the information is relevant for all personnel operating at First Points of Entry.

Further information can also be found the Australian Government Department of Health website at https://www.health.gov.au/.
