Good results for Inner Harbour air-quality monitoring

Air-quality monitoring by Fremantle Ports around the Fremantle Inner Harbour has found no evidence of air pollution due to port operations. Results from the first three months of a 12-month trial monitoring program found all air quality parameters generally below the applicable National Environment Protection (Ambient Air Quality) Measure air quality criteria.

LANDSIDE 

Truck drivers encouraged to use in-cab info system

Fremantle Ports is encouraging more truck drivers servicing Fremantle Inner Harbour to use an automated messaging system available for delivery to their cab.The messaging system is one initiative providing better coordination of heavy vehicles moving in and out of the North Quay-Rous Head precinct.

Employees generously support charities

Charities Native ARC (Animal Rehabilitation Centre) and Perth Children's Hospital Foundation each received about $10,000 recently through an employee giving program.Staff also contributed a total of 194 hours of volunteering to benefit these charities and Guide Dogs WA, St Patrick's Community Support Centre and OzHarvest Cooking for a Cause, and they donated 50 Christmas hampers to St Pat's.

Round House support

Fremantle Ports is proud to announce support for an historic daily ceremony, the 1pm Cannon Firing Ceremony at the Round House, WA's oldest existing public building. The new partnership was celebrated recently with Deputy Harbour Master Captain David Heppingstone firing the cannon.

Community Port Walks popular

We invited 200 people to walk around Victoria Quay with us on two Sunday mornings last month and hear from some of our experts about how the port works (plus join us for morning tea). The two events were so popular that some people missed out, so we're looking at holding more.

Fremantle Biennale on Victoria Quay

Fremantle Ports has thrown its full weight behind the 2019 Fremantle Biennale (1-24 November), with many of the art-in-place events set to occur around the Inner Harbour. Fremantle Ports, a major Biennale supporter, has worked steadily for months with organisers to plan at least five significant events in the Victoria Quay precinct.

NAVAIDS

RH2SL back to service

This is Rous Head No.2 Starboard Lateral being towed through the Inner Harbour to be put back into position after its triennial service. RH2SL is one of six buoys that mark the harbour entrance and it's powered by battery and solar, like all of our 133 navaids.

Vale Captain Jack Adams

Captain Adams, who died recently at the age of 103, was the Port of Fremantle's highly respected 16th Harbour Master (1968-72) and Divisional Manager Operations (1972-76). He visited us to celebrate his 100th birthday and again, a year later, to ride in a pilot boat.
