The Department has prepared the following document "How you can help the Department this BMSB season" for brokers and importers to use a reference guide.

The document is attached and highlights the following points for due consideration:

When lodging documents:

• Allow sufficient time prior to arrival when lodging documents. 
• Ensure all documents are lodged correctly and in full. 
• Do not repeatedly call the department checking on the status of a lodgement for document assessment. 
• Direct communication via one channel. 
• Allow sufficient time prior to arrival for import permits to be issued. 

If you need to call the department:

• Don't call the department to check on the status of a booking
• Asking to be placed on a list for an earlier inspection when you are not ready.
• Cancellation of Inspection Bookings

If members can highlight the key documents and links etc in the assessment process, then we believe that will expedite the process.
