Offshore BMSB treatment provider scheme

Monday, August 5, 2019

As outlined in last weeks' BMSB Executive Update # 2,  Andrew Crawford (Head of Border and Biosecurity - FTA) and I met in Canberra with executives from the Department of Agriculture and at Parliament House with advisors for the Minister for Agriculture - one of the key issues raised was the lack of availability of a list of approved offshore treatment providers for 2019/20 season.

Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) is pleased to advise that the Department of Agriculture has since released preliminary details of approved treatment providers registered under the scheme that have demonstrated their capacity to conduct BMSB treatments for the 2019-20 BMSB season - refer HERE.

Please also note that all treatment providers approved for the 2018-19 BMSB season must re-apply to join the Scheme for the 2019-20 BMSB season.

New applicants and previously approved treatment providers can apply to the join the scheme for the 2019-20 season by completing the application form on the Offshore BMSB treatment providers scheme webpage.

Industry workshops for LCL/FAK Process

In preparation for the 2019-20 BMSB season, the Department of Agriculture will be hosting Industry information workshops in Melbourne on 5 August and in Sydney on 6 August for those involved with importing or handling LCL/FAK consignments that require increased intervention during the 2019-20 BMSB risk season.

Master consolidators, freight forwarders, importers, customs brokers, biosecurity industry participants, stevedores, wharf operators and treatment providers are encouraged to attend.
