MSC has announced the introduction in New Zealand of a new Cheque Presentation Charge effective from 1 November 2017.
Any payments from customers in the form of cheque after this date will incur a NZ$57.50 (NZ$50 + 15% GST) charge.
"The processing of cheques continues to be a manual and time-consuming process for both the payer and payee and due to this MSC will endeavor to recover some of these cost through the cheque payment fee. Also there is a time delay as cheques do not appear on our account immediately as cleared funds. If you currently pay by cheque and would like to adopt a new payment option for future payments we have the below options:
