We're excited to share some of the work underway at Botany Intermodal!

DP World Logistics Australia (DPWLA) is committed to improving Botany Intermodal's infrastructure to meet the operational expectations of our customers.

We've heavily invested in Park 1, at 1890 Botany Road, with:

·         A new fleet of 14 Kalmar container handling equipment.

·         Complete new fit out of washing facility for containers, ISO tanks and road tankers, increasing capacity and throughput (concept pictured right).

·         Heavy investment into efficiency of wash facility with new steam boilers, reconditioned drainage and waste water treatment plant, improved safety from process orientated layout.

·         Technically advanced operation with latest 1-Stop Modal platform through iPad integration in all yard machines, enabling paperless transactions for R&D.

·         Reconfiguration of internal rail crossing and removal of bunded areas; reducing separation of train wagons to allow additional 136m of dual sided rail operation.

·         Reconfiguration of stacking yard to optimise truck traffic flow.

·         Introduction of improved lighting, pedestrian separation, exclusion zones, communication and operating procedures.

·         Improved amenities for staff and external truck driver welfare including toilets, shower, kitchenette.

·         Rail siding repairs to fix degradation and drainage issues.

·         Improved safety procedures, meeting DP World global standards.

·         Tenders in progress – electrical infrastructure upgrade, power and communications network, high mast lighting, wash bay drainage repair.

·         Works pending – pavement repair.

Rail repair work well underway

Repair works to the siding will be finished by mid-October.

Engineers assessed the rail siding in May 2017 and condemned a section  that had not been adequately maintained, leaving it unfit for use.

The risk of derailment and unplanned disruption to the business, our customers and the rail network was unacceptable, so we decided to invest in immediate repairs.

Work entails repairs to approximately 80m of rail on both tracks and will include a new transition slab and drainage at the siding entry.

Taylor Rail was awarded the rail repair contract; the program of works is expected to be completed by 14 October 2017.

"We are thrilled to announce Hapag-Lloyd as our cornerstone customer," says Chief Operating Officer Logistics, Mark Hulme.

"Botany Intermodal is committed to delivering Hapag-Lloyd exceptional service levels going forward.

"We're proud to offer Sydney's only 24x7 empty container park operation."

Rail Operators Safety Interface Agreement

Following on-site consultation with rail operators 26 June 2017, Botany Intermodal has been refining procedures and processes.

The finalised Rail Access Agreement and Safety Interface Agreement will soon be released to rail operators for review and sign off.

DPWLA to use new 1-Stop Modal

Modal has been designed to make life simpler by tapping into a more simplified 'ecosystem' for any containerised facility.

The solution reduces data entry by linking and sharing information, removing one of the biggest issues facing the industry today.

1-Stop Modal's simple, single-window user-interface modernises container logistics with the latest technology that will benefit all participants in the supply chain.

Modal was born by working alongside container parks, shipping lines and carriers, to bring to the market the only system built entirely from industry input, and one that allows users to manage their entire workload from the one interconnected solution.

More information will be coming soon.
