AFIF Charity Golf Day 2013 raises over $16,000 for
Black Dog Institute
Sydney, NSW: The Australian Federation of International Forwarders (AFIF) raised more than $16,000 at their Annual Charity Golf Day in aid of Black Dog Institute on Thursday 22nd August 2013.
Each year AFIF Host's the Golf Day event in aid of a worthy charity, with this year's choice being Black Dog Institute www.blackdoginstitute.org.au who conduct research and aid sufferers of depression and mood disorders. AFIF believe it important to seek out charities who may not have the high profile of some others and, as a result, miss out on much needed funds for worthwhile projects.
The event held at the Macquarie Links Golf Club in Sydney, NSW, was attended by 110 international freight forwarding industry members, sponsors and guests and the outstanding amount was raised through playing fees; sale of raffle tickets; auction items and games on course during the day. Prizes were also donated by industry suppliers and other organisations. AFIF again invited Scott Gibbons, aka: 'Mr Sold', a high profile auctioneer who conducted the proceedings in a fun and entertaining way which raised a good sum of money towards the charity.
This year, a composite team comprising management and customers of Maltacourt Logistics took out the team Winners Trophy and prizes and the associated accolades of the main Ambrose Golf Competition, with the team from DHL Global Forwarding as Runners-up. Third place went to the team from Qantas Freight. Congratulations to all the successful players! The happy winning team Captain, Mark Davis, said: "it's great to win this trophy at last and we are very happy! AFIF did a great job arranging this event".

The Sponsor of the Year Cup was this year awarded to Qantas Freight / Jets Transport Express, for their high level sponsorship.
In collecting the Trophy, a delighted Bob Lugton, representing Qantas added that "they were always ready and willing to support this high profile and worthwhile industry event".
Will Bonney, the General Manager of Black Dog Institute spoke about their work in detailed research and of the support for those affected and how depression and mood disorders affect a surprisingly large number of the population. The institute was delighted to be chosen as this year's beneficiary as they receive minimal income from the Government compared with other more high-profile organisations in this area of charity and relies on public and corporate support. "We are so grateful for your generosity, this will make a huge difference" said Will Bonney, in closing.
Over the nine (9) year history of this event, more than $195,000 in total has been raised for the various charities selected as beneficiaries.
