SYDNEY:
ANJ Containers were proud to support Jersey Day last week on Friday 4 September.

The cause is all about discussing with your loved ones about organ and tissue donation. It's about wearing your favourite jersey to raise awareness that can transform the lives of many people.

Gerard Raper from ANJ Containers said "My wife is a recipient of a liver transplant and through the generosity of a family willing to donate their son's liver my wife now leads a normal life. We are so grateful for what is such a big decision for the donor family to make"

ANJ Container Services have been great supporters of Jersey Day for over 10 years and we will continue to assist the concept for such a great cause. READ MORE  on Jersey Day

 PERTH:

Always good way to start the day with a healthy breakfast at #southfreocontinental  and a chat with Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) member Stefano Casella from Intergroup Shipping (WA) Pty Ltd.

It was interesting to hear of their growth thru SE Asia and Stefano's views on the current climate of trade globally - looking forward to future discussions with this family owned WA business

SYDNEY:

Paul Zalai has met with more technology providers in the last four months than he has in the previous forty years combined, and the pace of innovation in our sector is extraordinary.

So he said it was great to catch up with Simon Saunders from Koma Quote — Simon has built a quoting platform with deep integrations that can generate accurate quotes in seconds. Impressive work and exciting to see solutions like this emerging across the industry.

If you're a forwarder - see how quickly your rate sheets can become sellable quotes.

State government to shut down Infrastructure Victoria

SAVING money has been cited as the key reason for the state government of Victoria moving to axe advisory agencies Infrastructure Victoria (IV) and Economic Growth Victoria. Southern Ports seeks to develop local talent through early career development

FOUR early-career opportunities at the Port of Esperance have opened to applicants, with Southern Ports advertising three apprenticeships and one business administration traineeship.

The roles are aimed at candidates seeking workplace-based training without leaving Esperance, and add to an apprenticeship program the port authority says has supported more than 30 apprentices and trainees over the past decade. Southern Ports chief executive officer Keith Wilks said the program was part of a broader effort to build local capability while strengthening the organisation's regional workforce. Port simulation, El Niño & seafarer shortage discussed at PANSW forum

A LIVE port scheduling simulation, the impact of El Niño and a projected shortfall of 114,000 seafarer officers were among topics discussed at the Port Authority of NSW's Safe and Efficient Port Operations Forum (SEPOF) 2026.

The live simulation gave participants a vessel schedule and asked them to make decisions from the perspective of terminal operators, towage providers, marine pilots and port authorities as adverse weather conditions developed and resources became constrained. READ MORE (story credit DCN)

Xeneta: August air cargo demand grows 6%

Global air cargo demand remained strong in August, with volumes up 6% year on year, meaning shippers must wait a little longer to see a bigger drop in still-elevated freight rates, said industry analysts Xeneta.

Air cargo's 'hot summer' of 2026 continued last month after the 5% year on year rise in volumes recorded in July, underlining the market's resilience through the traditionally quieter summer months. Year-on-year spot rate growth is easing again but global air cargo spot rates (valid for up to one month) remained 24% higher year on year in August at an average of $3.13 per kg
