Freight & Trade Alliance's (FTA) Tom Jensen spoke with ABC Riverina this morning to discuss the breakdown of the US–Iran agreement and the renewed exchange of hostilities across the Gulf.
The discussion examined the immediate impact on shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, where vessel movements have again fallen sharply, as well as the growing risk of disruption spreading across key Middle Eastern trade routes. Tom also outlined what the renewed instability could mean for Australian importers and exporters, including higher fuel and marine insurance costs, constrained shipping capacity, longer transit times and renewed pressure on freight rates and supply-chain reliability.
