FTA / APSA - OUT & ABOUT
Government catch up in Canberra
Paul Zalai, co-founder & director - Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA)
said it was an absolute privilege meeting Senator Michelle Ananda-Rajah, committee member Select Committee on Productivity in Australia.
Not only is the Senator one of the most engaging politicians I have met, she had an active interest in uncontestable terminal access charges at our wharves and empty container parks and was very intent on knowing our thoughts about Part X of the Consumer & Competition Act.
Discussions also touched on illegal tobacco and border controls.
Watch this space!
Paul Zalai
comments that one of the rewarding things about this role is meeting fascinating people.
Great to catch up with Alice Hudson from
Altana
while in Canberra to understand how they can trace a product's journey from raw materials to finished product, addressing challenges such as illegal logging and modern slavery compliance.
Supporting our Care-Factor Ball Charity
Great to catch up with and NRL legends
Todd Carney
and
Nate Myles
alongside the
Care-Factor
team before they headed off to regional NSW to deliver Reboot Mindset Academy workshops. Proud to support the outstanding work Reboot is doing to build resilience and positive futures for young people. Looking forward to welcoming members and sponsors to our
industry charity "Christmas in July" trade ball – further detail

FTA / APSA - IN THE MEDIA
Closure of Fremantle Traffic Bridge could bring costly delays
The Fremantle Traffic Bridge closed on 1 February 2026 to make way for the completion of the new Bridge. This means approximately 23,000 additional passenger vehicles per day diverting to the Stirling Bridge which understandably will create congestion -
John Park (Head of Business Operations - FTA/APSA)
provides commentary on Channel 9 News.
SEE HERE
John Park (Head of Business Operations - FTA/APSA) provides commentary on Channel 10 News on day 1 of the Fremantle Traffic Bridge closure. Softer trade volumes and less vessels over the weekend along with pre planning by industry, and the community, has seen minimal disruption.
