was formally appointed Vice Chair of the Asian Shippers' Alliance for the next two years (2025–2027). This prestigious appointment recognises APSA's growing leadership across the region, driving collaboration and reform toward transparency, efficiency, and regulatory alignment across international supply chains.

MANDATORY ABF CPD MODULE
FTA has received confirmation from the Australian Border Force that the Mandatory ABF Module for the customs broker licensing period ending 31 March 2026 will be scheduled in
January 2026 and will need to be completed by 31 March 2026.
The Department will publish an ACN closer to the date with further details.
MANDATORY CBC ACTIVITY
Industry will be advised when the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries & Forestry (DAFF) has scheduled the Mandatory CBC Activity for the period ending 31 March 2026.
FTA will advise further details to our members as soon as they have been published.
2025-2026 FTA ONLINE CPD & CBC TRAINING PACKAGES
FTA offers Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and Continued Biosecurity Competency (CBC) training
online
for the customs broker licencing period 1 April to 31 March each year. The cost of an online training package is
$150 (excl. gst)
for member organisations with bulk discounts available on a sliding scale. New content is now ready for your completion.
Licensed customs brokers
not
employed by a corporate FTA member, can purchase an Individual Membership which includes online CPD & CBC training for the cost of only $300 (excl. gst) per customs broker licensing period.
Employees of members who
do not require CPD points or a formal certificate/attainment statement
can access webinar/seminar recordings on our main website

A change to NSW Load Declaration requirements
Transport for NSW has announced some changes to the NSW Load Declaration requirements.The change are now in effect, and has resulted in changes to the TfNSW
website
, with the Load Declaration form now removed from the website.
A signed measurement record is still needed as a condition of access, and the recording of this information is at the discretion of each operator., Operators must continue to produce a measurement record, signed by the operator, the person who took the measurements and the driver.

TasPorts and the H2U Group explore green hydrogen and ammonia production at Bell Bay
TasPorts and the H2U Group have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to investigate the feasibility of developing a large-scale green hydrogen and ammonia production and export facility within the Bell Bay port precinct in northern Tasmania.
The proposed facility would be initially capable of producing up to 500,000 tonnes of green ammonia per year with the potential to scale-up, supporting the emerging hydrogen industry and advancing Tasmania's renewable energy ambitions.

Mariner arrested over $2.7 million Port Adelaide drug bust
A TANZANIAN national has appeared in the Port Adelaide Magistrate's Court charged with allegedly importing three kilos of methamphetamine into South Australia.
An investigation began on November 8 after a security guard contracted by Flinders Ports stopped the cargo crew member for a random baggage inspection in Port Adelaide. Police allege during the routine bag check, port staff found three suspicious packages containing a crystal-like substance in the man's backpack.
