Port of Brisbane – Vision 2060

Last month, Port of Brisbane released Vision 2060, an ambitious roadmap designed to strengthen Queensland's economic position, future-proof trade, and support the transition to a more sustainable and efficient port.

Developed in collaboration with industry, government and community partners, and underpinned by research, Vision 2060 charts a journey for the Port of Brisbane to drive economic growth and prosperity while embracing innovation and environmental stewardship.

It's a call to all interested parties to work together to achieve the ambitious aims identified.

Dear Amanda

Welcome to the July edition of the Shipping Report, now with a brand-new look and feel, complete with a downloadable pdf version. We've refreshed the format to make it easier to navigate and more insightful at a glance, while still delivering the detailed, up-to-date coverage you rely on.

This month's report comes at a time of real flux for global trade. Freight rates are softening across key corridors, schedule reliability is improving but still volatile, and the ripple effects of tariffs, geopolitical tensions, and environmental disruptions are being felt industry-wide.

Closer to home, Australia is heading into peak season with rising spot rates, equipment shortages, and a raft of new surcharges and rate restorations. Meanwhile, MSC is expanding its Oceania–US East Coast service, and DP World has rolled out a new booking platform at the Port of Brisbane to improve supply chain efficiency.

We also take a closer look at Red Sea disruptions, a shifting U.S.–China trade dynamic, the latest on sustainable shipping trends, and where major ports are seeing congestion or easing.

Whether you're looking to make sense of shifting capacity, prepare for tariff changes, or keep tabs on industry innovation, this report has you covered.

We hope you enjoy the new layout, and as always, we welcome your feedback.
