Fremantle Ports Briefing
John Park
and
Amanda Bradfield
were privileged to be invited to the Fremantle Ports HSE Forum 2025 – Inner Harbour. This was a valuable event focused entirely on health, safety, and environmental (HSE) practices across port operations.
The discussions emphasised the importance of collaboration and shared responsibility in preventing incidents, improving communication, and continuously raising the bar on safety standards. A big thank you to
Fremantle Ports
for hosting such an engaging and proactive session. It was great to catch up with
Drew Gaynor
(Freight & Logistics Council) along with
Savio Fernandes, AFNI
(Harbourmaster for Fremantle Port).

CH Robinson
at Perth Airport to discuss the outcomes of a recent Biosecurity matter. We were also impressed with the new

ACCC Survey - Container Stevedoring Monitoring Report 2024-25
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has advised Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) that it is now inviting stakeholder feedback as part of its
ACCC 2024–25 Container Stevedoring Monitoring Report
consultation process
FTA/APSA continue to lead the charge for meaningful reform of landside port pricing and regulation across the container logistics supply chain.
FTA/APSA also continues to provide evidence to the ACCC highlighting the growing burden of unregulated charges on the supply chain. We strongly encourage members to contribute feedback to ensure these impacts are fully understood and reflected in the final report.

Swan River Crossings Fremantle - Bridge Closure
While much of the new bridge can be constructed while the existing crossing is open, it will be necessary to close the bridge to complete the project. This is because the new Fremantle Traffic Bridge is being constructed on the same alignment as the current bridge.
Based on the current timetable, closure of the bridge for up to 12 months is anticipated to begin in
early 2026.
Traffic modelling shows that the closure of the bridge will have a severe impact on the road network with commuters likely to experience delays. As a result, some temporary network modifications are essential to keep traffic moving during the closure.
