Who does this notice affect?

This notice is of interest to clients in the import and shipping industries, including importers and customs brokers associated with the importation of targeted break bulk and containerised vehicles, boats, machinery and machinery parts shipped from the United States from 1 September 2016 to 30 April 2017 inclusive.

What has changed?

The Department of Agriculture and Water Resources has finalised its measures to manage the 2016-17 seasonal risk of brown marmorated stink bug infestations in sea cargo shipped from the United States.

After considering industry feedback, the department has made one change to the proposed measures, as advised in Industry Advice Notice 75-2016, with respect to goods targeted under tariff 8428. The department has restricted the goods targeted under 8428 to 8428.90.00—Other lifting, handling, loading or unloading machinery (other machinery).
