Please find attached the May 2018 trade bulletins for both Port Botany & Port Kembla. 

  • May 2018 container throughput was 207,221 TEU, down 1.91% on the same period last year.
  • Import full volumes were up 1.96% on the same period last year with increases in the consumables area (up 13.15%) as well as in iron and steel (up 10.05%) and wood and wood products (up 9.95%). These increases offset some decreases in other commodity groups.
  • Export full volumes were down 4.29% which was largely due to decreases in cereals (down almost 34%) and paper and paper products (down almost 18%).
  • Export empties were also down by 6.23% on the same period last year and this is following several recent months of high volume repositioning.
  • Vessels visits in May were 91 compared to 101 in the same period last year with decreases in most TEU ranges with the largest in the 3-4k TEU range (down 6 visits). However the 6-7k TEU range was up by 5 visits.
