Botany Intermodal secures major shipping line customer

DP World Logistics Australia is pleased to announce a new customer for its Botany Intermodal site.

Hapag-Lloyd, a global leader in container shipping, specialising in reefer cargo, dangerous goods and special cargo projects, will use Botany Intermodal as its primary Sydney empty depot.

"We are thrilled to announce Hapag-Lloyd as our cornerstone customer," says Chief Operating Officer Logistics, Mark Hulme.

"Botany Intermodal is committed to delivering Hapag-Lloyd exceptional service levels going forward.

"We're proud to offer Sydney's only 24x7 empty container park operation."

Covering 15.3 hectares, Botany Intermodal is one of the largest empty container parks in Sydney and operates from two locations: Park 1, at 1890 Botany Road and Park 2, at Bumborah Point.

The site's strategic location in Port Botany provides significant opportunities for industry to reduce their operating costs, with a broad range of services and fast access to Sydney's container terminals.

Botany Intermodal services include:

·         washing containers, ISO tanks and road tankers to specific customer requirements;

·         repair and upgrade of containers to food quality/DPI standards;

·         repair of damaged containers;

·         storage of empty and full containers;

·         loading and unloading of rail freight and offer storage solutions for containers ahead of vessel receival windows;

·         out-of-gauge storage and handling, including receiving, lashing and delivering nonstandard goods;

·         storage of containers at considerably lower rates than terminal storage.

System interface testing between Hapag-Lloyd and DP World Logistics Australia is underway and a further announcement to industry will made when containers can be directed into Botany Intermodal.
