DP World Australia has been addressing two safety issues regarding straddle carriers at our Melbourne terminal.

Over the past two weeks, we have had two unrelated combustion incidents in our straddles, ten days apart, affecting the two different classes of straddle carriers at our Melbourne terminal.

DP World Australia takes a safety first approach in all matters. We stood down all straddles in the respective class until the source of the combustion was identified and rectification measures were implemented across all our straddles. We stress that none of our people have been injured during either of these incidents.

The effect of straddle shortages for the last two weeks has significantly affected our terminal capacity.

We attempted to alleviate the impact to our customers by requesting assistance from Patrick and VICT. Both stevedores declined to assist with any vessels this week, which is disappointing and not in line with industry practice.

Our Customer Centre has been in close contact with our shipping line customers over the past two weeks as we endeavour to bring all vessels back on schedule.

We thank you for your understanding.
