AUSTRALIAN Peak Shippers Association has announced the unanimous acceptance of Sean Richards and Eimear McDonagh to its board.

Sean Richards is the executive general manager- logistics for Visy Industries while Eimear McDonagh, is director of the Australian Cotton Shippers Association (ACSA).

Sean Richards replaces Goran Miljanic as the Visy Industries board representative.

Visy is expected to remain a central player in the Association, being Australia's largest containerised exporter by volume.

The appointment of the Australian Cotton Shippers Association to the APSA board is expected to bring the two organisations closer together, with a focus on advocacy.

FTA secretariat Travis Brooks-Garrett said the appointments would benefit cotton exports.

"The addition of the Australian Cotton Shippers Association to our board reflects the importance of the cotton industry as a growing export commodity at a time of increasing international supply chain costs," Mr Brooks-Garrett said.

The Australian Cotton Shippers Association represents more than 50,000 TEU in exports a year.

The Board Meeting also resulted in the appointment of Dominic Dillon, trade execution manager for Cargill, as the new Association's new treasurer.

The Australian Peak Shippers Association has grown recently, with new members including Mondelez, Emerald Grain, CH Broadbent, Casella Family Wines, the Horticultural Exporters Association, AH Beard and Flinders Ports.

APSA is Australia's largest representative group of containerised exporters.
