Global Finance Report Weekly Market Commentary Equity markets in the USA rallied on economic news. Economic Sentiment from the University of Michigan hit the highest level since 2004! Growing confidence in the US, has been reflected in the economic data releases, although it has come off the boil in recent times. The Dollar has started to reflect the economic and monetary situation. The new Trump economic advisor, Larry Kudlow, is a huge Dollar bull! The EUR fell below 1.2300, while the Yen traded around 106.00, reflecting the monetary cycle. The coming week will be dominated by the Feds two day meeting, which will almost certainly raise interest rates, confirming the return to a normalised monetary policy. European data remains depressed, with CPI data challenged, ensuring the ECB will continue accommodative monetary policy. The 'Return of the Dollar' has been manifested in the commodity currencies. The AUD has crashed to 0.7700, while the NZD has fallen all the way back to 0.7200, victims of the reserve. This is a direct result of economies being manifested in Central Bank monetary policies. The Fed and Bank of England remain ahead of the curve. ... read more | |
